Day 79: Mock Interview Instructions

Prepare for the Interview
A job interview is a process in which a potential employee is evaluated by an employer for prospective employment in their company, organization, or firm. During this process, the employer hopes to determine whether or not the applicant is suitable for the position.  Thoroughly preparing for an interview will make a huge difference in how well you do.  In this unit you will learn how to prepare for an interview, construct answers to interview questions and write a follow-up letter.

Tasks:

  1. Assignment:  For this project you will prepare for a mock interview by completing the steps below in order.
    • Prepare typed responses for the Mock Interview Questions Assignment Submission Form
    • Practice answering the interview questions out loud.
    • In class, on the assigned day, one of your classmates will interview you.  Their job is to ask you the 7 questions that you’ve prepared answers for in an interview simulation.  The more serious you take it, the better you’ll do.
    • The interviewer will take notes while you interview and give you feedback on what you did well and how you can improve. (You will use these notes and refer to them when you write your reflection.)
    • After the interview, reflect on your experience.  Make a copy of this Reflection Form, fill it out and save it in your Careers folder.
    • Finally, write a Follow Up Letter to your interviewer.
  2. Mock Interview Notes (the interviewer will fill this form out during the interview)
  3. Write a Follow-Up Letter to your interviewer
